Buffalo's Gone Wild!

I need to keep this one short today. By the way, the title was Shawn's idea!

Yellowstone West is a beautiful western type town, the way we though Deadwood was going to look.  We are staying in a little rustic cabin with patchwork quilt and pine furniture, really cute.

Today we went to beautiful Yellowstone National Park. It really is a gem and everyone should see the beauty of it. I didn’t think the park was as big as it is, it’d huge. I under estimated it and didn’t give ourselves enough time here with only one day. I think 3 days would have been a good amount of time to see it at a more relaxed pace, it was relaxing but had to miss areas, missed the whole upper basin.  We saw so many geysers, melting pots with beautiful colours and caldron type pots that were boiling and bubbling. You are warned at every one to keep away, most of them are scalding hot. Old Faithful was really neat to see, so many people there to watch it, they have an idea of the time when it’s going to blow, they must watch the core temperature of it.

We saw a HUGE herd of buffalo, with lots of babies. It was so nice to see, there must have been 75 or more and about 30 babies. Then we saw 2 elk just on the way home, but it was almost getting to dark to take a picture of them. Also saw 2 Trumpeter swans, but no bears though!! We also saw lots of fly fisherman, really neat to watch.

Old Faithful

Just pretending he's a sleeping, grumpy old man???

We had lunch at Old Faithful Lodge, a historic hotel kept in beautiful shape. After lunch we went to sit outside on the veranda of the lodge on hand crafted log rocking chair. We waited till the time that Old Faithful was going to blow and watched from there. It is a very busy place though.
Yellowstone's Grand Canyon

Waterfall in Yellowstone's Grand Canyon
We came upon Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon, it was so beautiful and very deep with a quite a few water falls. Shawn had a hard time with the depth of it and couldn’t look over the edge at it.

We also got snowed on quite a bit today, you would never know it's June when you're in the mountains.

We definitely want to come back some day to see more of it and for a much longer time, maybe camp in the park but definitely want to stay in the park. It is so pretty!

Talk to you tomorrow!

  1. Nice pictures. Who is that grumpy man? Lots like one of those dolls made out of old nylons!

Enjoy a leisure drive to Seaside as there is many side road stops and light houses.
