In "The Oregon"

First of all, you have to excuse me if there are mistakes in here or slurring, a little wine does that to you!

About 1 1/2 hours East of Oregon.

Old Bridge in Portland 

Oregon is my favourite State of the States we have seen on our trip! It is all about the mountains, rock cuts, hills, rain forests, beautiful cedars that are so big and green and the ocean, beautiful country! It took us quite a while to get here and it shouldn't have, it really was the shortest driving day. We stopped a few times more than usual, stopped in the trendy city of Mount Hood for coffee, stayed at Starbucks for a while (I think I've got Shawn hooked!), then went to Multnomah Falls, which drops 620 feet and was used in a scene of the Twilight Movie, really breath taking and tons of people there, were there for about 1 1/2 hour. Portland is a pretty city with lots of old homes, with wood siding and verandas, beautiful rose gardens even along the boulevards, really pretty. We found Trader Joe's, went in and bought a few things, could use one of these in the Osborne Village district in Winnipeg, (organic food). We went through Portland and drove to a restaurant that was on the TV show Diners, Drive Ins & Dives called Podnah's Pit that served BBQ'd ribs, prime rib, pulled pork, etc, very good food. Shawn & I had Pulled Pork Sandwiches that were really tasty and would recommend them, a little spicy though if you're not into spicy food, but really good. Then we used the GPS to get to the highway that we needed to go on to Seaside. Well I think the GPS takes you on the shortest route possible, we had so many turns, through farm fields (not really but pretty close) for about 40 minutes till we got to the highway. I said to Shawn that I was almost ready to stop somewhere to ask directions, but there was nowhere to ask, just farmers. Wouldn't want to do the trip without it though, gives you confidence that you can go anywhere and it's true.

Seaside is a really pretty, historic, beachy, surfer type town, kinda like you would think Malibu beach would be like, little shops, ice cream and candy shops, surfer, clothing shops. We can walk from our hotel to any of the shops, downtown area is probably 4 x 4 blocks square, you can see everything, with parking on both sides of the road and only one lane through the middle. When we got to our hotel, we found out our room had been upgraded, we had booked a partial view room which was supposed to be on the side of the hotel and they moved us into a beach facing room with a partial view, a small, full kitchen, sliding patio doors facing the beach with a patio, fireplace, it's probably about 600 sq. ft. They gave us vouchers for each of us to have wine in the restaurant/lounge. We hit the jackpot, really nice room, and right on the beach. You walk out the front doors onto the boardwalk and the beach.

Seaside Beach

Shawn and I went for a walk on the beach, a large beach, probably 10 times deeper to the waters edge than Grand Beach, maybe even more. We were standing along the waters edge, looking for seashells and the tide was coming in and we were running and laughing trying to get away from it, the water is VERY cold and there were quite a few people making bon fires on the beach. So glad we came here, it really was an after thought. We are here till Wednesday.

It's our 35th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow, what a nice place to spend it in with my best friend! :)
