We went out to look for seashells and walk on the beach in the rain this morning and did we ever hit the mother load of shells. We came upon an area of the beach that looked kind of gravel, it was pieces of broken seashells. Then we started finding the little swirly ones, we only found a few last night when Kim and I went for a walk. Well there were hundreds in this one area, we kept picking and picking and didn't want to leave. We also found 3 starfish washed onto the beach from the tide going out earlier this morning. One had only 4 legs, but we didn't get a picture of it, a regular 5 leg one that was purple, and then we found one that had 19 legs, was about 10 inches across and was pink and orange. It had been on it's back side, we picked it up and rinsed it in some water and could see all it's tentacles starting to move. It felt so neat and we rescued it and put it back into the ocean even thought the tide was coming in. They can live out of water for quite awhile, it wouldn't have died unless it was in the blazing sun.

ReplyDeleteDo starfish kinda suction onto you or zap if you touch the bottom? Really cool that you could save them :)
